Sunset Park is a thriving, diverse community with a long and rich history associated with the shipping and manufacturing industries. This neighborhood is located in the borough of Brooklyn in New York, between Bay Ridge and Gowanus and stretching from 15th Street to 65th Street from 9th Avenue to New York Harbor. It is home to about 150,000 residents and offers numerous shops, restaurants, places of worship and cultural events and activities.

Sunset Park’s biggest attraction is its namesake park, which offers gorgeous views of the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline, Staten Island, and New Jersey. This park is 25 acres and is a favorite among the locals, with its large playground, public pool, ball courts and more. The pool at Sunset Park is the training location for the Brooklyn Swim Team.

Sunset Park is an interesting neighborhood full of row houses, a variety of businesses, the 25-acre park for which it was named, and is close to the waterfront. Formerly one of the epicenters of the shipping and manufacturing industry on the East Coast, people flocked to the area in the early 1900s largely for work in the shipyards, piers, and in manufacturing, and the availability of so many jobs attracted a wide variety of immigrant families. The United Puerto Rican Organization of Sunset Park was founded in 1966, and the community celebrates Puerto Rican Day each June.

The neighborhood of Sunset Park is full of picturesque row houses and brownstones and is a competitive real estate market. It is home to good schools and is well-served by buses, trains and expressways.

It is also home to Green-Wood Cemetery, which is a beautiful landmark with four ponds, rolling hills, enormous trees, and flower gardens that attract visitors from all over the city.
